Missions

What is missions and why does it matter?

Before ascending into heaven Jesus commanded His disciples to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20). We believe that missions is more than an itemized church program. Rather, missions is the duty of the church with the glory of God as its goal.

We’ve had the opportunity to participate in the following overseas mission trips:

• vision trip to milan, italy on college campuses & to promote english link classes

• Vacation Bible School with Pura Vida Missions, Costa Rica

• Construction & teaching with Pura Vida Missions, Costa Rica

• Apologetics mission trip in Transylvania, Romania

• operation christmas child

• Vacation Bible School with FBC Montreal, Canada.

• Individual RMBC members have served on trips to India, Italy, Brazil, Puerto rico, africa, and Nicaragua.

our stateside mission trips have included:

• south hamptonn roads mission project (shrmp) -week long summer trip for youth & adults at public housing complexes across south norfolk.

• reach – week long spring break camp spent in community service.

• Student Fusion  Mission Camp in Richmond & christiansburg, Virginia

• Hurricane Sandy disaster relief mission trip, affected areas of New Jersey

• straight STREET – A TIME FOR STUDENTS 6TH – 12TH GRADE TO COME, HANGOUT IN A SAFE PLACE AND LEARN MORE ABOUT THE HOPE FOUND IN CHRIST. OUR MEMBERS GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE, SERVE FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP WITH THE YOUTH AT STRAIGHT STREET.

• Reach Out  Evangelism & visitation

We budget a sizable portion for missions work internationally, stateside and locally as well as provide various opportunities to be a “sender.” A few of these are:

• International Missions offerings lottie moon, annie armstrong

• North American Missions offering

• Great Commission Fund (off-sets the cost for RMBC members to go on mission trips)
