What is missions and why does it matter?

Before ascending into heaven Jesus commanded His disciples to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20). We believe that missions is more than an itemized church program. Rather, missions is the duty of the church with the glory of God as its goal. We’ve had the opportunity to participate in the following overseas mission trips:

  • Vacation Bible School with FBC Montreal, Canada.

  • Vacation Bible School with Pura Vida Missions, Costa Rica

  • Construction & teaching with Pura Vida Missions, Costa Rica

  • Apologetics mission trip in Transylvania, Romania

  • Individual RMBC members have served on trips to India, Italy, Brazil, and Nicaragua

Cross-cultural mission trips and events

  • Student Fusion  Mission Camp in Richmond, Virginia

  • Outreach at Candlewood apartments (Section 8), Rocky Mount, VA

  • Hurricane Sandy disaster relief mission trip, affected areas of New Jersey

  • Community Thanksgiving Outreach Meal

  • Inmate Thanksgiving Meal

  • Jail Ministry

  • Reach Out  Evangelism & visitation

We budget a sizable portion for missions in addition to our regular ministries as well as provide various opportunities to be a “sender.” A few of these are:

  • International Missions offerings

  • North American Missions offering

  • Great Commission Fund (off-sets the cost for RMBC members to go on mission trips)

We strongly believe local, cross-cultural, and overseas missions work hand-in-hand. Come join us as we strive to make much of Jesus by loving people through sharing the Gospel! Contact us for more info about how you can connect on mission!
